The Voice Of One Calling

“Who will do it,” the woman cried.

They stepped a little further

Off their much-determined paths,

In order to avoid her.

The line was slow, the time was fast

No time to make a moment last,

Just chug one down and place your bet, Tomorrow was a long way, yet.

“Who will save us,” she implored,

They passed her, inattentive.

Each day, her voice they still ignored,

Their cares were unrelenting.

Work hard, play hard, lust for life,

Get educated, get a wife.

Will to succeed, succeed you will,

Then leverage debt to buy and build.

“Who will pay the price,” she wailed,

And one man stopped to tell her,

“It’s Jesus, ma’am, it’s all been done,”

He knelt and prayed beside her.

Kick it, man, the world won’t wait,

The competition’s far too great,

Seize the day, accumulate,

It’s in your hands – manipulate!

“Jesus paid the price,” she called,

And one heart hesitated,

Jesus held her, “job well done.”

The angels celebrated!

How many you have given me to love, my Lord,

How many you have given to embrace,

To care what comes of lives

Obscure, unnoticed,

Any, one of whom, could be misplaced.

For whom, each one, you gave your life to notice

To love, give hope and, ultimately – Grace.

To speak the truth of your eternal glory,

The price you paid, the cross that you embraced.

Upon our hearts, a new name has been written,

Upon new hearts, your righteousness bestowed,

Your light calls through the mists of separation,

Your love to draw the weary world home.

Warm in His love,

Warm in Jesus,

Warm in the faith He’s teaching me,

Warm in the gift of life He gave me,

Warm in the knowledge of eternity.

It was so, so cold outside,

Icicles hanging from my foolish pride,

Apathetic blanket ‘round my heart of stone,

I was disconnected, I was all alone.

It was dark, damp

In the mildewed corners,

Where I hid what I thought was too ugly to see.

Then He brought me in the sun, in the warmth to show me

He had the cure for my leprosy,

He had the answer for what ate at me,

Now I’m not going to die, I’m going to live forever,

In perfection, with my Savior, for eternity.

Rejoice!

Yes, the one whose name is Jesus

Christ came for this reason (To redeem us)

From the hopeless bondage of our past,

At last!

Feel the love and joy resounding

In your freedom, your heart’s pounding,

Oh, for ears to hear the multitude

Of angels who rejoice!

Lift your voice!

Set a place, another’s coming

By His grace, the Lord’s done something

Very wonderful, to let us share

The glory of new life!

Send us out again…again, Lord,

Bring the lost ones in, amen, Lord!

This is what the joy of living means,

King Jesus, we rejoice!

Proverbs 1:7
(But fear of the Lord is the beginning of wisdom)

When all the promises

You had the time to keep

Have run out of time for keeping,

When all the thoughts you kept,

The dam of tears unwept,

Have run out of time for weeping,

Where, where do you go,

When you’re raw from the chafe of your soul?

Who will anoint you, my friend,

Make you whole, give you courage

To live again?

When all the doors have closed,

Can’t find a face you know,

And it’s dim in your hall of tomorrows,

It’s time to pull your faith

Up from it’s hiding place,

Don’t give up and be drowned in your sorrows.

Where, where will you go

When you’re raw from the chafe of your soul?

Jesus can save you and then

You'll be whole, you'll have courage

To live again.

Why Me?

Jesus gave his life for me,

Claimed my life for His,

Bled and suffered for my cause,

To bring me back to this –

To know I am a cherished child,

Not numbered, logged And neatly filed,

Outstanding, singly loved and kept,

Created for His happiness.
