Let's Get to the Truth

If you don’t have truth to speak, perhaps just not opening your mouth to utter words of flattery or excuses will do. White lies are not the truth. Co-dependent assurances are not the truth. Dropping manipulative hints is not the truth.
Taking responsibility when it is actually yours is the truth. Saying no can be the truth. Even drawing away for a time can be truthful.
How our culture has agreed with our lies. Aren’t we responsible for creating and preserving our culture when we go on agreeing with it? So, we have created and swim in the cesspool, while Satan sits in his drawing room, gleaning satisfaction as he lingers over his blueprints.
2 Corinthians 10:5
New International Version
5 We demolish arguments and every pretension that sets itself up against the knowledge of God, and we take captive every thought to make it obedient to Christ.
Today, take every thought captive and examine it before speaking. I’m surprised by the habitual activity of my mouth to engage in nominal, fruitless, wasteful, uninspiring speech and words that carry the portent of an oncoming storm without the blink of an eye, when if given a moment of thought, I could have changed the course of a day or of a life by letting the Holy Spirit lead in the decision about what I will speak.
Lord, give me the peace that allows your Spirit to work in my life today. Help me pay attention to all I do and say to see if it will bring you glory. Thank you that we are not in this daily battle alone. You go before and behind to protect and fight for us. You are our strong tower. Amen
